A Virtual Icebreaker

The first day of school is always full of the excitement of a fresh new start, smiling unfamiliar faces, and lots of getting to know you activities. Well, we may be heading into the final stretch of the school year down here in Georgia, but I am excited to embark on a new beginning here on this blog. So, here's a little about me.

I am Mrs. Colwell, a 4th grade teacher, with a love for bright colors, dry erase markers, and music that makes you want to dance! I teach in Georgia, in a suburb of Atlanta. This is my first year teaching 4th grade after several years in Kindergarten. I am loving every minute of this year - the quirky personalities, messy math problems, and the growing responsibility of my students. I learn something new every day, and like to think that I am always trying to improve at what I do.

I am married to my wonderful husband, the Mr., for four years as of this Valentines Day! We love to try new foods and exploring our neighborhood for new "local" spots. We just moved into our first house in November, so our weekends are full of trips to the hardware store and endless to-do lists. We have a furry, gray cat, Colby, who is a ball of energy that loves to wake us up in the morning, and cuddle behind my shoulders as I spend way too many hours on Pinterest (guilty as charged)!

Along with starting this blog, I have also recently begun a store on Teachers Pay Teachers. Math is my favorite subject, and I have several math units up for sale in my store. If your school has a Bring Your Own Device policy, get ready to use some QR codes and have those iPads and tablets fired up for my Geometry and Basketball unit. Check out the link to my store on the right-hand side.

I can't wait to post my first real classroom post! Check back in for a tour of my classroom, and in the meantime, thanks for stopping by!
